As a John L. Scott broker, my mission is transactional excellence and client satisfaction. That means I work tirelessly to make your home buying or selling process as efficient, stress-free and lucrative for you as possible.
Meet Richard
Richard Hicks’ career has been entirely focused on customer service. Before real estate he worked in the technical staffing industry where he helped engineers find jobs. After that he owned a dry cleaning business and worked with hotels in downtown Seattle and the surrounding areas.
He grew up in a real estate family in Los Angeles, with a father who started his company in 1968 when Richard was born. However, it wasn’t until the economic crash started in 2007 that he began his real estate career. Despite the difficult market, Richard stuck with it and continued to help his clients purchase and sell homes. Now Richard is based out of the John L. Scott Renton office and he works with clients that span the spectrum, from first time buyers to those who are looking for a luxury listing to call home. He works in Renton and the surrounding areas including central Seattle, West Seattle, North Seattle, Auburn and Federal Way.
The rapport Richard builds with his clients is one of his favorite parts of the job and he does everything he can to ensure his client’s success. No matter the budget, Richard puts his all into each transaction. His marketing campaigns are extensive and he does everything just short of flying the Goodyear Blimp next to a listing. From local neighbor engagement to buyers abroad, his goal is to reach buyers no matter where they are looking.
Richard has played sports since he was nine years old and it instilled in him the value of being on and working with a team. He applies this outlook to his client relationships, because at the end of each transaction it truly is a team effort. After high school, Richard attended the University of Washington, graduating in 1991. He played football at UW from 1986 to 1990 and was even a member of the 1991 Rose Bowl team!
Giving back to his community is one of Richard’s biggest passions. He utilizes his gift of communication to work with young people, enjoying anything that helps educate and assist our youth. As a former member of the UW football team, he mentors several current members of the team. He also donates to several charities throughout the year including the Boys & Girls Clubs of America, The First Tee and YMCA and is very involved with the scholarship program at his church.
Richard loves all sports; everything from the Seahawks to the Mariners and any and all UW sports. He also enjoys boating in the summer and skiing in the winter, and racquetball, even with his bad knees.
Renton
Renton sits on the southeast shore of Lake Washington and at the junction of three major highways: I-5, I-405 and State Route 167. That means we have easy access to Seattle, Bellevue, SeaTac airport, and the rest of the Puget Sound area. Renton was incorporated in the early 1900s, but we really started to grow when Boeing started building planes here during World War II. In the decades since, many large corporations have set up homes here, including Paccar, which makes Kenworth and Peterbilt commercial vehicles. The downtown core has been revitalized and is now home to the Piazza. During the summer, the Piazza hosts a farmers market, but there are events here throughout the year. Renton has homes of all styles Luxury homes on the water or in the Highlands, condos and townhouses overlooking Lake Washington, and new homes in friendly neighborhoods. If you’d like to learn more about Renton, let us know. We’d love to show you around and help you find your perfect home.
